I arrived to Bergy Bandroom a bit late as NTH RD were already on stage. There was a decent crowd already. Though it was a SOLD OUT show, it was also a Sunday so I wasn’t sure how the crowd would go. But as you can see below, there were a decent amount of people to get things going. Bands were working the merch on the side of the room and people flowed in and out with their drinks. It felt like good vibes already.

NTH RD
I hadn’t heard of NTH RD and my sister had said she had heard of them but also hadn’t seen them before so I didn’t know what to expect. I have to say, one of my fave sets the whole night. I really enjoyed their music (well what I caught) and I am sure I’ll see more of them as they are locals.

SYNGE
I love that this gig was introducing me to new bands. Having just relocated here, it is great to get to know more AUS bands, even though I thought AUS was already stacked. But honestly, never enough.
Another great set. I really appreciate they thanked crew and even dedicated a song to Headwreck. Drummer was smashing the clean vocals. The guitarist was getting into it so much which I appreciate seeing. I know these stages can be small and obviously the crowd isn’t necessarily here to see you but still giving it like they are is always a 10/10 in my books. Also to note, they have epic stickers if you catch them around.

HEADWRECK
I had interviewed these guys years ago and have always like their music, so it was great to get the chance to see them live. I feel like I have seen them before but just couldn’t remember. So it was time for a Headwreck refresher.
They did not disappoint in regard to sound and performance. The crowd was also very keen to see them with a lot fo the crowd in Headwreck merch from the start of the night. I even treated myself to a shirt and some stickers.
But I have to say the amount of smoke and lighting kind of put me off. I’ve never been a big fan of smoke machines, particularly in small spaces. I get why it is used for lighting but my asthmatic self says no. Also I like to see the band and it really drowned the stage for a while. The lighting was quite washed out which is fine but the amount of strobe was a no for me but this is also a personal preference.

INERTIA
INERTIA. NERSHY. It was so great to catch these guys live again. It had been quite some time since I had seen them, so to see them play a SOLD OUT show at the end of a tour supporting their new release was epic.
They played their new album SECOND SHADOW in full. The crowd had squashed in and was moshing and screaming their lungs out. The lighting and sound was great and the band felt really on point in my eyes.
I sadly couldn’t stay the whole set due to needing to get public transport but I have to say, the fact I had to slide through people to get out made me so happy for them. I can’t wait to see what else they have lined up with this album and how they continue to grow.
