KIA ORA! HOW HAS YOUR 2021 BEEN SO FAR?

It’s been great! I’ve spent a lot of time with family and close friends and also finding myself. A lot of wins and a lot of losses, but it has been great character building.

.

SO WHO IS MOURAD? TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.

Well I don’t really know where to start. I’m very introverted and like to keep to myself a lot, as I love my alone time. I am very outspoken though when it comes to friends and I am never afraid of sharing my mind with others when they ask. I love to have a laugh with people and will turn anything into a joke if possible, sometimes even when I shouldn’t. I never take myself too seriously outside of my music because even if I am the butt of the joke, I’m still making someone laugh and happy for that moment.

.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN CREATING MUSIC FOR? BECAUSE YOU ONLY STARTED RELEASING MUSIC THIS YEAR (ACCORDING TO SPOTIFY).

I’ve been making music for 7 years now. I recorded my first song at 16, in a studio my best friends mum found and actually persuaded my school to let me do a gateway placement at the studio. So I went to a studio every Monday for a year, free of charge, and learnt the basics of recording and writing.

.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC TO SOMEONE?

I would describe it as versatile, sometimes ill rap, sometimes I’m more melodic. Its all about vibes for me.

 .

.

WHAT ARE YOU INSPIRED BY?

I’m inspired by life, anything that happens in my life, I always put in my music. Sometimes I have to take 3-6 month breaks from making music, so I can live a bit and have stuff to talk about.

In terms of other artists I’m inspired by I would say Drake (Of course), Meek Mill, Mhuncho, Dave East and Bone Thugs.

.

DO YOU PRODUCE YOUR OWN MUSIC? AND DOES FINDING THE SOUND COME BEFORE OR AFTER THE LYRICS?

No I don’t produce my tracks. I work with my main producer Rufless and another producer named Lucky Keys. I have to hear a beat to catch a flow and then I start writing. For me its all about finding flows and then slotting words in to fit.

.

YOU JUST RELEASED YOUR TRACK ‘ALL I EVER WANTED’. HOW HAS THE RECEPTION BEEN FOR THIS RELEASE?

Yeah it’s been good. A lot of people are showing love and I’m hearing good responses so I am happy with it.

.

.

HOW WAS YOUR 2020 AND WHAT WAS THE PROGRESS LIKE FROM THEN TO YOUR RELEASES NOW?

2020 was a great year also. I recorded most of this new music I am about to release, so I was very productive. After dropping the music video for ‘Forever’ I didn’t really have a plan in place to carry that momentum, but now I do.

.

DO YOU HAVE MUCH PLANNED FOR THIS YEAR (AS MUCH AS PLANNING CAN BE A BIT HARD WITH EVERYTHING) OR ARE YOU JUST GOING WITH THE FLOW?

I have 2 more songs coming before the end of the year, with a few surprise features so make sure to keep an eye out. The next song is called ‘Devils and Diamonds’ featuring a very dope artist and close homie of mine. I am set to announce the release date in 2-3 weeks. I have all my releases ready to go so it’s going to be a very eventful 2021/2022 for me.

SOME FUN QUESTIONS:
Fave snack?
Cheese and crackers for sure.

Overused phrase?
Cap (but I am guilty of using this too much)

If you could start a rumour about yourself, what would it be and why?
I’ve heard many, many crazy rumours about myself so i wouldn’t start one. But the craziest rumour I’ve heard about myself is that I died.
