It has been a while since I attended a show at The Powerstation and a SOLD OUT one at that. As I arrived people were already trickling in to the venue, with the barrier being lined almost instantly. That just kept growing and I have to say it was nice to see the early turn out, as I really think people need to support the support acts too.

Speaking of, ELI SUPERFLYY was supporting Mako Road for this show and he took the stage with a 4-piece band. The crowd had really started packing in by this point with the floor almost comfortably full and the upstairs railing lined with a row of people already. Eli seemed comfortable on the stage and though I had not heard his music prior to this night, I really enjoyed it. It was the perfect fit to support Mako Road. If you haven’t heard his music before I recommend checking it out as he has more shows coming up so you can catch him if you weren’t at Mako Road.

Funnily enough, the one issue I had during his set was nothing to do with him at all, it was the crowd! They were talking so loudly and I know some acts just carry on but it drives me crazy. Like you want to socialise, do it beforehand or go somewhere else. It’s a show not a bar. Be respectful. Okay rant over haha.

The Powerstation was PACKED at this point. The floor was squashed in and people lined the elevated part of it as well as the chairs and upstairs around 2-3 rows deep. They pushed a bit more as the stage went dark and MAKO ROAD took the stage – it was show time! The crowd sang loudly right off the bat. After being annoyed at them for talking so much during Eli’s performance, it put a smile on my face to see people happy and singing. Now obviously this isn’t a show with theatrics or anything. It was some fun lighting and a great performance from Mako Road in regards to both vocals and sound. I felt like the crowd really contributed to that. There was such a positive energy as everyone sang along and just had a great time with their friends. Though I shouldn’t be surprised that it was good as I doubt they’d sell out regularly if they were bad live. People jumped up on shoulders and were really just living their best lives.

That felt like the vibe of the show as a whole. Friends, good vibes and just dancing and singing along. Mako Road are definitely worth checking out live if you haven’t seen them, even just for that environment. A great night out for everyone!
