Paige, a singer-songwriter hails from Auckland and started out posting DIY videos of her covering songs in her bedroom with her acoustic guitar which led to releasing her own music including So Far (which Billie Eilish shared on her Instagram) and catchy tune Bloom, which has over a million streams online.

Paige has been sharing her musical talents online during lockdown, performing sets as part of Jam on Toast and ZM’s Float. Paige recently opened up online that her new song Yellow was inspired by her friend who supported her through a difficult period with Paige releasing a home music video as she felt like it fit with the song.

1. Happy NZ Music Month! How did you initially get into creating music?
Thank you!!!! I loved singing when I was really young and then I decided when I was 9 that I wanted to sing songs of my own!

2. Tell us about your inspirations & motivations?
I’m inspired by other artists, ones that push boundaries like Lady Gaga and Katy Perry in 2009. Seeing people succeed also motivates me because it helps me believe in myself more. If others can do it then I should be able to ha ha.

3. What have you been up to in this lockdown and how has it affected you?
I’ve been spending lots of time with my family which has been so nice, I’ve been doing digital art, been writing and I just started making a podcast which has been so fun

4. What do you think of the NZ music scene?
I think it’s so incredible and so unique. We have some really great artists that inspire me probably more than a lot of global artists do. I love our artists so much.

5. Goal board time – where would you like to see yourself in a year’s time?
Out of quarantine! A billboard song would be siiiiick! Hopefully just making more music that I’m proud of.
