This album came out and I couldn’t not check it out after the singles they released. In short, I love it, but let me tell you why. I think I love this album because it touches on a lot of personal issues and mental health which I think we can all relate too. But it is also somewhat confrontational in that way. The album cover is a diamond. I believe that’s in relation to the album cover “pressure makes a diamond”.
TRACK BY TRACK BREAK DOWN (My interpretation):
Who I Am: This seems to be about not judging people who you don’t actually know. Also, how you should deal with people directly rather than talk shit behind their back. It is a strong opening track that reflects what the album is about.
Prison: Being trapped in your own head and how it is hard when you go through bad shit or have a bad run of luck.
Grave: Possibly about a relationship. The person won’t change even though you’ve tried “you’ll take it to your grave”.
Ghost: About being distant from people and being physically present but not mentally.
Me Against Myself: Pushing forward but struggling with it and needing support.
Hurt: I honestly think the title say it all. Hurt & pain.
Low: About being in a “low”/depressive state and not really coping no matter how much support/encouragement you have.
The Line: About putting on a “happy” show rather than Express how we truly feel. At what point does that stop or get too far?
Fury: I think it’s about the anger that can coincidence with how you feel and/or being the fight to combat your depression etc.
Forget My Name: About ignoring the haters and working so hard they never forget your name.
Take the Fight: Remaining strong through all the crap. You are not alone.
Will We Ever Learn: It’s about how people/society aren’t learning from history or past mistakes.
This album is almost somewhat of an anthem. It is something a lot of people can relate to at this present time. But it can also be a bit confrontational and motivational. The breakdowns are great, and the mix of raw and clean vocals are so well-balanced. It really is a great album. If you listen to this type of music, do yourself a favour and go listen to it.
