.

1. Happy NZ Music Month! How did you initially get into creating music?
We all found music in our own way as the years went on it just became more an more important the thing to always come back too. Ethan, Adam and I had our first experience playing in a band thanks to smoke free rock quest at high school, which gave us a taste of the stage we couldn’t forget. After rock quest we shot our selves straight into the local scene putting on our own gigs as 16 year old little bogans! Funny enough we played along with Liam’s (Drxnes bass player) high school band before even knowing him Rob, our beautiful front man, is from Australia and has been passionate about music even longer than us, he can do it all.

2. Tell us about your inspirations & motivations?
One of our earliest inspirations would be Parkway Drive a metal core group from Australia. They had a DVD all about starting out touring and living the band dream. I’m not sure about rRob and Liam but we use to watch this almost religiously. It set the tone for a dream made possible with hard work an passion. A life on the road was the carrot on the string that took us down this rabbit hole, motivated by local bands around us and the network of NZ hard working musicians, that against all odds keep up the hard fight.

3. What have you been up to in this lockdown and how has it affected you?
Lockdown has had its perks but also being separated from each other has been difficult. We rely on at least two big jams a week so missing that has  been a big one mentally. But it has forced us to find new creative ways of communicating and building ideas togther, which coming out of lockdown is going to make us even tighter and more efficient as a group! We are very close with some new music so was a little blow to the motivation we had going but I can tell you now it’s bigger than it was before, we are hungry and hyped and just you wait!

4. What do you think of the NZ music scene?
The NZ music scene is constantly inspiring, even more so in the less popular genres where artists are really grinding their teeth for the passion inside. Against all odds of radio and streams an modern demands there is always freshness an quality to NZ music. Ethan has made a playlist on the Drxnes Spotify called “UNDERDOGZ NZ” which features some of our favourite NZ artistS! Check it out! Shout out to some of the greats we’ve been lucky enough to play with, Coridian ,Pull Down The Sun, Claemus, Seas of Conflict, Banks Arcade, Ripple Effect and the list goes on. Keep up with the playlist, or let us know if you have some music for us to check out! All love!

5. Goal board time – where would you like to see yourself in a years time?
In a years time.. I feel like we will definitely have our next tape out! With endless amounts of demos the pockets are deep and will be a massive victory getting an album out. Soon as we can we will be looking at getting back on the road! We want to to make it over the ditch for some shows. With Robs Aussie roots and a growing audience over there, would be a hell of a time! So yeah new music and more shows! And to take Drxnes as far as we possible can keeping the love for music alive.
